Tobacco "Havana"
Smoking tobacco "Havana".
A large annual plant up to 180 cm high. The flowers are pink, large.
Leaves are dark green, smooth, fleshy and resinous, with a high nicotine content (leaf length up to 50 cm).
Tobacco is used for cigarettes and smoking pipes. Infusion of leaves and stems is an effective means of combating plant pests. It can be grown as an ornamental.
Agrotechnics.
Sowing for seedlings is carried out in late March - early April. Before sowing, the container is filled with slightly damp soil (three parts of sandy loam turf soil and one part of well-rotted and sifted humus) and the surface is compacted and levelled. The seeds are evenly distributed over the surface, lightly pressed into the substrate, moistened with a spray bottle and covered with film.
The crops are placed in a light, warm place, watered through a tray and aired every day (the film is lifted for 30 minutes).
Young plants are planted in open ground in mid-to-late May at a distance of 50-70 cm. From planting to the ripening of the leaves of the last break, 90-140 days pass. From mid-July, the collection and drying of tobacco begins.
Before use, tobacco is fermented (oxidation process: languishing, drying).
